The Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on U.S. 90 near Southeast Boulevard this morning. BVVFD Chief Darryl Perry said the vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was engulfed in flames when units arrived on scene at 8:26 a.m. He said U.S. 90 westbound was shut down in the area for about 10 minutes while firemen controlled the blaze. The vehicle was owned by Evangeline Bazile, Perry said. The chief said cause of the blaze is unknown. Perry reported no injuries and said all BVVFD’s units were back in service by 9:12 a.m.
