VILLE PLATTE – A Ville Platte jail trustee, assigned to a city employee while on a work detail, was driven to an apartment where he ended up stabbing a man, according to Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue.

KATC TV reports that inmate Carlos Ardoin asked the city employee to take him to his house to pick up some money.

At the apartment, Ardoin allegedly kicked in the door and began fighting with a woman inside. She fled and Ardoin stabbed a man several times inside the apartment, police said.

Ardoin is back in the Ville Platte City Jail, and Mayor Jennifer Vidrine is consulting with the city attorney to find out whether the city can take action against the employee who drove Ardoin to the apartment.

The stabbing happened this week on McArthur Drive, and according to police Ardoin knows the victim.

Ardoin is charged with Aggravated Second Degree Battery, Unauthorized entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and Criminal Damage to Property.
