On Thursday, the Lady Eagles started off with wins over Lakeshore and South Terrebonne.
Against Lakeshore, CCHS won 2-0 (25-22, 26-24) with Caroline Byrne leading the way with 18 assists and two digs; Maria Templet had eight digs and an ace; Meo Knight had six kills, a block and two digs; and Abbie Bergeron had nine digs.
The Lady Eagles beat South Terrebonne 2-0 (25-12, 25-16) with Byrne again leading the way with 14 assists, one dig and an ace; Bergeron had 10 digs; Amanda Barron had four kills, two blocks, three aces and five digs; and Knight had five kills and six digs.
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles beat John Curtis 2-0 (25-21, 25-23) with Geralyn Garrett finishing with five kills; Knight had eight kills and a block; Byrne had 16 assists; and Crawford had five digs.
CCHS also beat Morgan City Saturday 2-0 (25-16, 25-13) with Byrne finishing with 15 blocks; Celine Flores had five kills and four digs; Garrett had four kills and two blocks; and Bergeron had five digs.
The only loss of the tournament came against Vandebilt Catholic 2-0 (18-25, 23-25) with Byrne notching 18 assists; Flores had seven digs and three kills; and Knight had eight kills and seven digs.
Central Catholic will host Patterson today at the Matchbox at 4 p.m.
Lady Tigers struggle in tourney play
The Morgan City volleyball team came away with one win out of five at the HL Bourgeois tournament this past weekend.
In the first game Thursday, MCHS lost to Lake Shore 2-0 (11-25, 7-25) with Katelyn Adams leading the team with five assists, a kill, a block assist and an ace.
Reina Fernandez added two kills; three digs and a block assist, while Genesis Estaban had two kills and two block as-sists.
The Lady Tigers played Vandebilt Catholic in the second game Thursday and lost 2-0 (11-25, 11-25).
Kailyn Turner had a strong game with three kills, two block assists and an ace; Adams had four assists, a kill and a block assists; and Fernandez had two digs, a kill and a block assist.
On Saturday, the Lady Tigers started things off with a loss to John Curtis 2-0 (11-25, 28-31).
Adams led the team with nine assists and three digs; Marilynn Bailey had four kills and four digs; Turner had four kills, two blocks, a dig, a block assists and an ace; and Brittney Durham had six digs and two aces.
MCHS won its second game Saturday over South Terrebonne 2-0 (25-21, 29-27).
Durham led the way with seven digs; Taylor Prince had two aces and two assists; and Turner had an ace, five kills, three blocks, a dig and a block assist.
The last game of the tournament was against city-rival Central Catholic with the Lady Eagles coming out on top 2-0 (16-25, 13-25).
Adams led the team with six assists, two aces and four digs; Durham had two digs and an ace; Turner had three kills and two blocks; and Chandler Pasqua had two digs.
Morgan City travels to face Delcambre today with the freshmen starting things off at 3:45 p.m.
Lumberjills win on the road
The Patterson volleyball team beat Beau Chene Thursday 3-2 (17-25, 25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 15-12).
Chynna Williams led the ‘Jills with seven kills, seven aces and two blocks; Kaylin Johnson had eight kills, six assists and five digs; Carissa Fontenot had 10 assists, three digs and two aces; Keisha Kinchen had three kills, seven digs and an ace; Jessica Decuir had four digs, two kills and an ace; Caitlyn Fontenot had seven digs, five assists, three kills and an ace; Katelyn Sonnier had five digs and two kills; Kasey Stratton had three digs; and Carli McIntyre had five digs.
Patterson travels to face Centerville today at 4 p.m.
