Morgan City’s volleyball team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday with a 3-1 win (25-18, 23-25, 25-13, 25-16) over Patterson.
The Lady Tigers were led by Katelyn Adams with 12 assists, seven digs, three digs and eight aces; Reina Fernandez had 13 digs, five aces, a block assists, a kill and an assist; Brittney Durham had 19 digs and an ace; Kailyn Turner had seven kills, four blocks, two aces, a dig and a block assist; and Taylor Prince had eight aces, eight assists, two digs and a kill.
Patterson was led by Carissa Fontenot with six assists, two digs and an ace; Kaylan Johnson had four kills, two assists, a dig and an ace; Katelyn Sonnier had three kills; and Caitlyn Fontenot had six kills, an assist and two digs.
The Lady Tigers junior varsity also won 2-0 (25-8, 25-7).
Prince led MCHS with 10 assists, three aces and a dig; Ariel Trimm had nine kills and a dig and Savannah Loups had five aces.
Morgan City will compete in the HL Bourgeois tournament starting Thursday with the first game at 5:25 p.m. against Lakeshore and the second at 7:35 p.m. against Vandebilt.
The Lumberjills will also play on Thursday on the road against Beau Chene at 5 p.m.
Lady Eagles beat another big school on the road
The Central Catholic volleyball team has another statement win under its belt, this time it was Class 4A Ellender.
The Lady Eagles won 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-21) with Caroline Byrne leading the way with 30 assists, four digs and an ace.
Celine Flores also had a solid game with 10 digs, three kills and an ace; Maria Templet had 11 digs, seven aces and a kill; Meo Knight had 18 kills, two blocks and eight digs; Abbie Bergeron had 11 digs and two aces; Amanda Barron had two kills and six digs; Brienna Hill had five kills and two blocks; Geralyn Garrett had three kills and two blocks; Kimberley Russo had three digs; and Olivia Crawford and Sissy Cheramie had four digs each.
The CCHS junior varsity also won 2-0 (25-13, 28-26).
