MORGAN CITY — The Morgan City Tigers fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 87-72, in District 8-4A action Tuesday.

No individual statistics were available as of this morning.

While the Tigers have suffered close losses in their last two outings, Tuesday’s game, which was Senior Night, was not as close as Morgan City’s recent district contests or Vandebilt’s 55-50 victory against the Tigers in Houma last month.

Morgan City (13-12 overall, 2-7 district), who entered the game as the No. 28 ranked squad in Class 4A according to the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association, needed a win to get some breathing room.

Now, the Tigers likely face a must-win game at Assumption Friday to make the field of 32 teams in Class 4A.

Morgan City routed Assumption earlier this season in Morgan City, 55-28.

New Iberia

stings Patterson

While Patterson held a 12-9 lead after a period of play, New Iberia outscored the ’Jacks 12-5 in the second quarter for a 21-17 halftime advantage and continued its scoring onslaught in the third quarter with a 17-8 run for a 38-25 lead after three quarters.

The loss snaps a six-game winning streak for Patterson.

Daylon Charlot and Mykel Jones led Patterson with eight points each, while Deondre Skinner added six, Nehemiah Augustus had five, and Malik Garrett had three.

Patterson will return to action Friday when they travel to Franklin for a District 9-3A contest.

A win Friday would clinch the outright district title for Patterson (14-6 overall, 9-0 district).
