The early morning accident Saturday happened near U.S. Highway 165 east of Iowa.
Joshua Payne,27, was traveling east on I-10 when he ran into the rear of an 18-wheeler driven by Ali M. Yasuf, 23, of Columbus, Ohio at a high rate of speed.
Payne's vehicle became lodged under the trailer of the 18-wheeler. Payne was pronounced dead at the scene. Yasuf was not injured.
State Police said impairment and excessive speed on the part of Payne are suspected to be factors in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
