Vermilion moving to pick new school super

ABBEVILLE – Applications will be accepted Feb. 12-March 5 for superintendent of the Vermilion Parish School Board.

Supt. Randy Schexnayder has announced he will retired in August of next year. The board has set a timeline for picking his successor.

It will meet on March 17 to interview applicants in what it is planning as an executive session.

The superintendent-elect will be appointed by the board on Thursday, March 22, 2012, and the position will become effective on July 1. The superintendent-elect will take office at the supervisor’s pay grade and work schedule beginning on this day.

On Jan. 24, 2013, the superintendent-elect will take office as superintendent and Schexnayder will take the position of acting assistant superintendent of personnel and administration. On this day, Charlotte Waguespack, current superintendent of personnel and administration, will retire.

The new assistant superintendent of personnel and administration, a position which will become effective on July 1, will be appointed on May 2, 2013. After this position is made official, Schexnayder will assume the duties of administrative trainer to the assistant superintendent until his official retirement date.
