WSM Wolfpack roll over Berwick

MORGAN CITY _ West St. Mary scored a pair of touchdowns in the second half, posting a 21-7 loss on the Berwick Panthers in the opening game of the St. Mary Parish Jamboree here Friday at Tiger Stadium.

West St. Mary quarterback Trevell Dixon scored on runs of 2 and 40 yards while defensive back Tamon Lockley returned a 40-yard interception return to allow the Wolfpack to post the 21-7 victory.

Berwick’s score came on a Marquis Rogers’ 40-yard interception return in the first period with 2:13 remaining as the Panthers took a 7-0 lead.

West St. Mary retaliated with a 2-yard scoring run by Dixon as time expired. Daylon Hatcherson booted the extra point as West St. Mary knotted the score at 7-7 in the first half.

Lockley’s 48-yard interception return sent the Wolfpack ahead by a 13-7 advantage with 10:34 blinking on the clock. Hatcherson’s boot lifted the Wolfpack outfront by a 14-7 margin in the second half.

Dixon capped the scoring Passing on the night with his 40-yard run before Hatcherson tacked on the extra point to hand the Wolfpack the 21-7 victory.

Dixon led the Wolfpack in rushing with eight carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Dixon also connected on four passes in eight attempts for 30 yards.

Trevon Charatain caught three passes for 30 yards for the Wolfpack.

West St. Mary will open the regular season Friday at the Franklin Senior High School Hornets.
