“If you like to exercise, you can do it during the parade,” said Arlana Shields, Franklin’s Office of Community Development Director. “Put on your walking shoes, gather your flashlight and walk with your friends, family, school group, sorority, fraternity, church society, veterans association or community organization. After the lamp-lighting ceremony, you can stroll along Teche Drive and Main Street to view the Christmas decorations.”
Shields said school groups, sororities, fraternities, church societies, veterans associations and community organizations that are interested in participating should contact her at her office in City Hall or at ashields@franklin-la.com or 337-828-6345.
Another clue to the identities of this year’s lamp lighters, Shields said, is that the couple has one child that works in the medical field.
