The man wanted for three counts of attempted first degree murder in a Siracusaville area shooting turned himself in this morning.

Today at 10:12 a.m., Terrence Lee Hollins of Morgan City turned himself in to the Morgan City office of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. He also was wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with Thursday’s double shooting on La. 182 east of the Greenwood overpass.

At midday Thursday, sheriff’s deputies were called to Teche Regional Medical Center to investigate two patients who had been shot in the area of Siracusaville. Two wounded victims and a third unharmed victim were traveling westbound on La. 182 approaching the Greenwood Overpass, when a gold Chevrolet Impala pulled alongside them in the opposing lanes of travel.

The passenger of the gold Impala, alleged to be Hollins, began shooting at the victims, striking two of them. Bryan Kemp, the alleged driver, was arrested Thursday evening on three charges of attempted first-degree murder.

At midday Friday, about 24 hours after the shooting, the U.S. Marshal’s office released a wanted poster for Hollins.

The poster stated that “Hollins has an extensive criminal history, should be considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.”

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, the decision to contact the U.S. Marshal’s office about Hollins was routine and straightforward.

“We do that with any felon we think has left the parish,” he said. “It’s just a formality for us. It’s how we do business.”

After turning himself in this morning, Hollins was transported to the parish jail for processing and incarceration.

Hollins’ criminal history includes filings in 16th Judicial District Court (St. Mary Parish) for two cocaine charges and a marijuana possession for which he pleaded guilty in October 2003. He received probation, and was in drug court. However, that was revoked in March 2006 when he was required to serve his original sentence of four years.

In 2005, Hollins had a second degree battery charge dismissed.

In August 2008, a second offense marijuana possession and a possession of alprazolam (Xanax) charge were levied. He pleaded guilty to the marijuana charge and the alprazolam charge was dismissed. For this he was sentenced to three years at hard labor to be served concurrently with the other four years.

In Morgan City City Court, Hollins was found guilty of interfering with the operation of schools Nov. 12, 2002; misdemeanor theft Nov. 19, 2002; possession of marijuana Oct. 28, 2003; and resisting an officer, no driver’s license and loud music, Sept. 28, 2010.
