Customers of Water and Sewer Commission 4 will see rate increases Oct. 1.

The board of commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 15 to increase rates for water and sewer services.

The commission’s auditors determined that operating costs have risen significantly and that a rate adjustment is necessary to offset rising costs.

The first 2,000 gallons of water will cost $13, up from $12.50. Every 1,000 gallons after that will be $3 an increase from $3.50

In sewer fees, the first 2,000 will be $13, and every 1,000 additional gallons will be $3, both up 50 cents as well.

The new rates will go into effect Oct. 1.
