A Morgan City certified public accountant is among those who have been recognized for the 2011-12 year on the South Central chapter of the Society of Louisiana CPAs, or LCPA.

Barbara Watts, a partner in the Morgan City office of Darnall, Sikes, Gardes & Frederick, was named president-elect, meaning she automatically will become chapter president in 2012-13.

She will follow Stacy LeJeune, who took office as the 2011-2012 president of LCPA. LeJeune received Bachelor and Master degrees in accounting from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux where she is an accounting instructor.

Other elected officers include Lisa Tarantola, secretary; Kandace Mauldin treasurer; Roy Breerwood, board member at large; and Bryce Ledet, immediate past-president.

Organized in 1911, LCPA (www.lcpa.org) is a non-profit, professional association representing more than 6,300 CPAs working in public practice, industry, government and education. It is considered the premier organization of accountants in Louisiana.

They also are on Facebook at www.facebook.com/lcpa.org.
