A power outage affecting nearly 10,000 local Cleco customers occurred Wednesday afternoon.

A lightning strike on a high-voltage transmission line is suspected to be the cause, spokeswoman Robbyn Cooper said.

The outage primarily affected Patterson and Bayou Vista beginning around 3:20 p.m. Power was restored about 4 p.m.
