The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Lucille R. Leonard, 32, of Franklin Street, Morgan City, arrested on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Morgan City at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for issuing a worthless check. Issued a summons to appear in court Oct. 29.

—Stephen P. Leger, 22, of Judy Lane, Patterson, arrested on Julia Lane in Amelia at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana first offense. A deputy was called to assist Customs and Border Protection agents in the search of a shrimping vessel. Agents discovered marijuana in a duffel bag. Booked and incarcerated into the parish jail and later released on a $2,000 bond.

—Keshay Julien, 18, of Arizona Ave., Morgan City, arrested at the Walmart in Bayou Vista at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday for theft. Store security indicated that Julien was observed placing merchandise valued at about $31 in a backpack and then attempted to leave the store with the items. Released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 29.

—William J. Roberson Jr., 27, of Homestead Lane, Patterson, arrested at home Tuesday at 5:49 p.m. for no turn signal, no driver’s license on person, resisting an officer and a warrant for failure to appear. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to signal a turn. Upon coming into contact with the deputy, Roberson refused to give his name and began yelling. During the investigation it was learned that Roberson had a warrant for his arrest. Booked and incarcerated with no bond set.

—Michelle Ashley, 42, of Calumet Cut Lane, Franklin, arrested at home at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday for simple battery. The victim claimed that during an argument, Ashley grabbed her arm and cut her with her fingernails. Booked and incarcerated into the parish jail with bond set at $500.

The Berwick Police Department reported one arrest overnight, according to Chief James Richard:

—Ronald Breaux, 47, of River Road, Berwick, arrested on Fourth Street at 7:13 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and open alcohol container. Remains incarcerated with a $450 bond.
