West St. Mary opened with a 14-13 first-quarter lead before clinging to a 31-25 advantage at intermission. West St. Mary stretched its lead to 42-36 at the end of three quarters. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Wolfpack benefited from a 13-7 run to cap the 55-43 triumph.
Wells tossed in a game-high 15 points for the Lady Wolfpack on seven floor shots and 1 of 7 free throws. Wells also grabbed five rebounds with four steals and four assists.
Cross pumped in 14 points on six floor shots and 2 of 10 charity shots along with 15 rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Wolfpack were: Amber Joe, 9 points, 14 rebounds; Chi’Kira Tillman, 8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist; Sequoya Ferguson, 8 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 assists and Gerianna Lyons, 1 point.
West St. Mary improved to a sparkling 6-1 record in District 6-2A while moving to 13-7 overall with the win.
West St. Mary will play host to Catholic High of New Iberia on Friday in District 6-2A.
