Wolfpack roll over Panthers

BALDWIN _ The West St. Mary Wolfpack claimed their second straight District 6-2A title with a perfect 8-0 mark Friday after holding off the Catholic High of New Iberia Panthers 39-27 in the league finale here at the WSMHS Gym.

West St. Mary (18-8, 8-0) jumped out to an 8-6 lead over Catholic High in Friday’s action. The Wolfpack and Panthers played to a 14-14 halftime tie. In the third quarter, West St. Mary earned a 25-19 advantage en route to the 39-27 victory.

Christopher Jones led the Wolfpack in scoring with eight points while Glenn Marsh and Theron Jack fired in six points apiece. David Robertson tallied five points while Adonis Sterling and Thaddeus Gabriel rounded out the scoring with four points each.

West St. Mary _ the 2012-2013 District 6-2A Champion _ will enter the State Class 2-A playoffs later this week when the brackets are announced.
