BOSSIER CITY – An Elm Grove woman pleaded guilty Monday to killer her five-year-old stepdaughter last year. She could get up to 25 years in prison for the manslaughter plea.

Sentencing is scheduled Dec. 18, the same day Catherine Lowe’s husband Wesley goes on trial on a negligent homicide charge in the same case.

Catherine Lowe pleaded in the death of Celeste Lowe in January 2011.

The couple took the child to the hospital saying she had a stomach virus. The medical team concluded the child had been dead for some time.

The Lowes were charged with negligent homicide and the charge against the step-mother was upgraded to first-degree murder, then downgraded to second-degree, and ultimately barged to manslaughter.

The sentence range for that crime is 10-40 years and the bargain calls for a maximum of 25.
