TANGIPAHOA PARISH – A woman and two children died when she ran a stop sign on U.S. 190 and collided with a pickup truck.

According to State Police, Sarah Robertson, 26, of Independence went through the stop sign at Coburn Road about 10:30 a.m., driving her Alero into the path of an F250 driven by Alan Grice, 26, also of Independence.

Robertson and two of her passengers, 5-year-old Skyler Ciccio and 12-year-old Mandy Dennis, were pronounced dead at area hospitals. Two other passengers in the car, 20-year-old Travis Tackett, of Kentwood, and a 4-year-old child were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Troopers say all passengers in the car were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

Grice was not injured.

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, troopers urge the public to remain vigilant while driving and avoid distracting activities, especially the temptations of electronic devices that can substantially divert a driver’s attention away from the road.
