MORGAN CITY, La.-- Two women were arrested Thursday by Morgan City police on drug charges after being stopped in their vehicle for a headlight violation.

—Veronica Alexander, 26 of Rev. Bayronne Street in New Orleans, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Thursday for a headlight violation, taillight violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Kasha Dozier, 19 of Carol Drive in Thibodaux, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Seventh Street and Duke Street for a headlight violation. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that the taillights were not operating on the vehicle as well.

Upon making contact with the driver, Alexander, the officer noticed what appeared to be a marijuana smoker’s pipe on the floorboard passenger side of the vehicle, the report stated. The passenger, Dozier, stated it was for her and she was arrested. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located additional suspected marijuana and seven pills identified as Busiprone. Alexander and Dozier were arrested, taken to jail and held. Alexander posted a bail of $1,014 and was released. No bail has been set for Dozier.
