ZACHARY – A 12-year-old faces drug charges after allegedly being found in possession of cocaine and diazepam.

The boy, police said, was a passenger in a car stopped for another reason.

Gary Sloate, 57, of Zachary was stopped for a traffic violation, police said, and subsequently charged with 950 counts of illegal use of counterfeit trademarks, 31 counts of prohibited sound reproduction without consent and one count of possession of tools and equipment for manufacturing unauthorized recordings.

He was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of the minor.

Police did not indicated whether the child is related to Sloate.
