Patterson native and Vietnam veteran Earl Brannon, in wheelchair, was surrounded by family and comrades who served with him in Vietnam as he was awarded the nation’s third-highest award for valor, the Silver Star, at the annual reunion of the American Army Division Veterans Association in Atlanta on Sept. 15. Brannon is joined by his wife Vicki, standing behind him; daughter, Kimberly, kneeling to the left of Brannon; fellow soldier Jim Pene, standing to the right of Brannon, who helped save Brannon’s life; and to the right of Pene is Brannon’s son, Wade. Brannon is surrounded by his fellow comrades from his unit in Vietnam.
