During October and early November, the Board of St. Mary Community Foundation, along with community volunteers, conducted a raffle for a seven-day trip for two to Paris. About 200 tickets were sold. On Nov. 15, the board held a wine and cheese event at the home of Alice and Billy Pecoraro to draw the winning ticket. The winning ticket was pulled by Kayla South, center, Morgan City High School band drum major. With South are Dr. Donna Tesi, right, chairwoman of the St. Mary Board, and Alice Pecoraro, left, hostess and member of the board. Angela Labat of Thibodaux, an employee of McDermott Inc., purchased the winning ticket.

Recently, Morgan City High School students, from left, Briana Lewis, Kreisle Darce, Derrick Walker and Courtney Billiot received superior ratings at District Music Rally held at Nicholls State University. Walker placed second in the division of male solo. Lewis, Darce and Billiot placed first for female trio. All three girls also received superior ratings in individual female solo.
