This year’s poster for the Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival was created by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Art Department. Bear Festival co-organizer Catherine Siracusa contacted the department head and printmaking professor Brian Kelley, who allowed her to make a presentation to students. The students then created woodcuts of their concepts for a poster, and this one was chosen. All the woodcuts by participating students were available as a collection for silent auction at last night’s Chamber of Commerce Business After hours held at Argus Spa to kick off the festival, pictured below. Dr. Donna Tesi won the auction to own the woodcuts.
