A St. Mary Parish dump truck lost the load of mud and sludge it was carrying this morning shortly after 9 a.m., and the muck began to pour onto Southeast Boulevard and across both westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90. A small amount also was spilled across both eastbound lanes as the truck was crossing the intersection onto eastbound U.S. 90. The spilled muck had been cleaned out the drainage canal on Middle Road in Bayou Vista. Both westbound lanes were blocked for a short time while a bulldozer cleared the roadway of the muck. The eastbound lanes were not affected.
