Kathy Sherman of Morgan City, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, was surprised with a check for more than $1,000 by the staff of Morgan City Health Care Center Thursday night. Sherman thought she was going to hear a speech by her niece about breast cancer awareness, but arrived to a room full of family and friends who offer her support. The money was raised at Morgan City Health Care Center’s fall festival Oct. 20.
