BVGC announces contest winners

BAYOU VISTA GARDEN Club sponsored Bayou Vista Elementary School in poetry, sculpture and Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl contests offered by National Garden Clubs, Deep South Region and Louisiana Garden Club Federation. On hand for the Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl Poster Contest awards were, from left, Tamatha Boggs, fifth-grade teacher presented with the Woodsy Owl book; fifth-grade winners Nicole Johnson, honorable mention; Madison Palmature, third; Blaise Ackman, second; and Teressa Leblanc, first and Donna Richard, BVGC Adopt-a-School Chairman. Leblanc also placed third in the LGCF contest. In youth sculpture, fifth-grader Kai Winingerth (not pictured) won first in BVGC, LGCF and Deep South Region contests. The sculpture, made from recycled materials, has been forwarded for competition in the NGC contest.
