Drug arrests made

Rainnie L. Scully, 19, of Park Place in Morgan City was arrested Thursday at 12:46 p.m. for theft over $500.

A deputy was conducting an investigation into the theft of a purse from a shopping cart that occurred in the Bayou Vista Wal-Mart parking lot. The deputy reviewed surveillance video and observed Scully taking a basket and the purse. The deputy located Scully on Clarke Road in Bayou Vista and conducted an investigation.

After the investigation, Scully was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail without bond.

Kayla Fryou, 19, of Laura Drive in Patterson was arrested Thursday at 8:31 p.m. for failure to stop at a stop sign, possession of synthetic cannabonoids and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area saw Fryou run the stop sign at Southeast Boulevard and South Street, and conducted a traffic stop. During investigation, the deputy obtained consent to search and found drug paraphernalia and synthetic cannabonoids.

Fryou was placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on Sept. 14.

Laura Cousins, 25, of Batesville Boulevard in Pleasant Plains, Ark., was arrested Thursday at 10:02 p.m. for driving while intoxicated and careless operation.

A deputy was patrolling the Bayou Vista area when he observed Cousins’ vehicle turn and drive over the curb of the roadway twice. During a traffic stop, upon making contact with Cousins, an odor of alcohol was detected. After investigation, Cousins was placed under arrest and transported to Berwick Police Department to run the Intoxilyzer 5000.

Cousins refused to take the test and was booked into the parish jail without bond.

Cypress P. Fruge, 26, of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista was arrested Thursday at 4:52 p.m. for possession of synthetic cannabonoids and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Agents were patrolling U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista when they observed Fruge’s vehicle cross the fog line and conducted a traffic stop. During investigation synthetic cannabonoids and drug paraphernalia were located.

Fruge was placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on Sept. 14.
