Emergency dredging has begun in the Morgan City area in response to sediment brought here by a near-record stage of high water passing through Berwick Bay. Dredging began Thursday at 20 Grand Point in Morgan City, where nine grounds took place last weekend. Work in this section was expected to be completed shortly as well as surveys of the Atchafalaya River on both the Berwick and Morgan City sides and the Atchafalaya River’s Bay and Bar Channel. The surveys are taken to know how much dredging will need to be completed.
