PORT BARRE – Port Barre Police arrested Mitch Eric Johnson, 24, of Port Barre on Sunday for Computer Aided Soliciting of Juvenile and Indecent Behavior of a Juvenile.

Police say they received a complaint from a concerned family member that Johnson had sent nude pictures of his genitals to a 14-year-old female by way of text messaging.

Through investigation, police say they were able to discover that Johnson knew the juvenile as a friend of one of his younger siblings.

Police say Johnson allegedly contacted the juvenile via the internet socializing website, Facebook, and engaged in conversation.

Police say phone numbers were exchanged and Johnson used a cell phone to send a picture text of his genitals to the young female.

Johnson was arrested and booked in the Port Barre jail for Computer Aided Soliciting of Juvenile and Indescent Behavior of a Juvenile and is currently awaiting bond, according to police.

"Although most Internet socializing websites are for persons 18 and older, many young people, under 18, are using sites such as Facebook and similar websites. They chat with friends and post photos and information of themselves on the internet. I recommend parent's to monitor and control your child's internet activity and be aware of people he/ she may be interacting with," said Chief Deon R. Boudreaux.
