CLEVELAND, Ohio – Southeastern Louisiana University wide receiver Simmie Yarborough picked up his second preseason honor when he named to the 2011 Phil Steele Preseason FCS All-America Team.

Yarborough, a senior from Brookhaven, Miss., was a third-team selection and was one of 13 Southland Conference players named to the team. Yarborough earlier was one of three players, joining wide receiver Brandon Collins and kicker Seth Sebastian named to the College Football Performance Awards D-I FCS Preseason Watch Lists.

Yarborough, a three-time All-Southland Conference performer, led Southeastern with 60 receptions and nine touchdowns last season while finishing second with 709 receiving yards. The 6-foot-1 senior ranked among the Southland Conference leaders in receptions per game (6.0, 3rd), receiving yards per game (70.9, 6th), touchdowns (9, 5th) and scoring (54 points, 10th).

He tied a school record with three touchdown catches to go with eight receptions for 114 yards in a Southland Conference win over Texas State and had a season-high 130 yards, highlighted by a 95-yard touchdown reception, at Sam Houston State.

Yarborough enters his senior season as the school’s career leader with 168 receptions and 27 receiving touchdowns while ranking second in receiving yards (2,002). Yarborough needs 343 yards to pass former Lion All-American Felton Huggins as Southeastern’s career leader in that category.

Southeastern reports for fall camp on Aug. 2 and opens its season on Sept. 3 against Tulane in the Louisiana Superdome. The Lions will officially open their home schedule on Sept. 10 against Savannah State.

Season tickets are available by calling the Southeastern Athletic Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466 or on-line at www.LionSports.net. The Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the Dugas Center for Southeastern Athletics, is open Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
