OPELOUSAS – A woman is charged with cruelty to a juvenile after alleged breaking one of her five-month-old’s arms and waiting eight hours to get it treatment.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said deputies were called to a hospital emergency room about 2 a.m. Friday in reference to a child being treated for a fractured arm.

He said deputies determined the child had suffered the injury at least eight hours before being taken to the ER.

Jasmine Jefferies, 20, of Opelousas was arrested.
