It may sound like a scene from a horror movie, but Eunice Police say a Lake Charles man who allegedly fled through a cemetery during a traffic stop ended up with an injured ankle, but no ghostly encounters.

According to police records, at 11:46 p.m. Monday, Eunice police attempted to pull over a vehicle observed driving recklessly.

The driver allegedly pulled over, but fled on foot, into St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Additional units were called in, and the man, described as shirtless, was spotted near the canal on Betty Street.

Around midnight, the man was caught at the intersection of Betty and Viola Street near the canal.

Police discovered that the man’s ankle was bleeding, apparently due to an injury sustained during his midnight flight through the cemetery.

The man was transported to Acadian Medical Center, but refused medical attention.

Zachary Simon, 24, of 231 Eddy St., Lake Charles, was charged with careless operation, no driver’s license and resisting an officer.
