RAYNE -- A teenager reported missing after leaving home Saturday night was found dead Sunday after an apparent accident.

Acadia Parish authorities said Jason Blake Petitjean, 16, was found in a soybean field shortly before noon.

His family had reported him missing an hour earlier.

He had apparently left the residence Saturday night on an off-road dirt bike and not returned home.

A search of the area was conducted by deputies and family members and at approximately 11:43 a.m. the juvenile's body was located in the field at the intersection of L. Boudreaux Road and Hwy 98, approximately three miles from his residence.

Deputies believe that the teenager failed to stop at the stop sign, causing the off road bike to become airborne landing in the bean field.
