HENDERSON – The body of a man who thought he had shot another to death was found in the Atchafalaya River on Wednesday after he jumped from a bridge two days earlier.

Police said Jontrell Ford, 27, of Batchelor was found by a tugboat captain.

Ford called family early Monday and allegedly told them he had shot a man at a club near Simmesport and that he was going to jump from the Simmesport bridge.

Evidently he did.

The shooting victim has a leg wound.
