Seven young women vie for S&P Festival crown

Seven young women will be vying for the title of 76th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Queen on Saturday at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.

The coronation court will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children.

Separate admission tickets are required for the coronation ball that follows at 9:30 p.m. Music will be by the Good Feelin’ Band.

To inquire as to the availability of ball tickets, call the festival office at 385-0703. Tickets are $30 each.

Maids competing will be:

Paige Danielle Boudreaux, 19-year-old daughter of Martha and Donnie Boudreaux of Berwick, attends Nicholls State University in Thibodaux where she is studying Business Management/Human Resource Management.

The 2010 Berwick High School graduate was a cheerleader in high school, a prom maid, and competed in tennis tournaments.

She enjoys tennis, Zumba, teaching dancing, cooking and reading.

Jaci R. Giandelone, 19-year-old daughter of Johnny P. and Connie C. Giandelone of Morgan City, attends South Central Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus, where she is studying Medical Office Assistant and Office Systems Technology. She earned a degree of art from the home-based Art Instruction School of Minneapolis, Minn.

The Morgan City High School graduate participated in Girls State, and was on the prom and sweetheart courts.

She is a group leader at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Her hobbies include painting and drawing.

Alli Landry, 19-year-old daughter of Mike and Laurie Landry of Bayou Vista, attends Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she is majoring in Communication Disorders.

She graduated in the top 10 percent of her 2010 BHS class. At BHS, she was a member of the homecoming and prom courts, Drama Club, Beta Club, and several other clubs. She was senior class vice president, a cheerleader, and a member of the swim team.

Her interests are cheerleading, dancing, swimming, and volunteering with the Tri Delta Sorority.

Robin Marcel, 21-year-old daughter of Yvonne and Robby Marcel of Morgan City, is a junior at NSU majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in pre-kindergarten to third grade. She is a 2007 graduate of Barbizon Modeling and Acting School, and a 2008 graduate of CCHS.

At NSU, she is a member of the Phi Mu Sorority.

Her modeling and talent career has included representing Paul Mitchel hair products, Macys and In-Style Wedding Magazine through Barbizon. She is now with Victor’s International.

During her high school years, she belonged to many organizations. She was treasurer for Student Council, Key Club, Students Against Destruction Decisions and the Governor’s Program for Abstinence. The retreat team leader was also a member of the volleyball team, and Girl Scouts. As an Eagle Entertainer she was on the American All-State Spirit Team in the Cajundome and performed as a Junior Saintsation for the Saints.

The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership award winner also attended Louisiana Girls State.

She was on the homecoming and Winter Formal courts. She was also a maid in several Mardi Gras krewes.

Her interests also include tutoring math and traveling.

Carly Anne Orlando, 19-year-old daughter of Don and Julie Orlando of Patterson, attends NSU where she is studying Child Development and Preschool Management with a minor in Special Education.

The CCHS graduate is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, and belongs to the Sister to Sister Mentoring Program, and the Robbie Page Memorial Fund. She is a section editor for NSU La Pirogue.

During high school she participated in volleyball, softball, track, and cheerleading. She belonged to SADD, Campus Ministry Club, and was a retreat team leader.

Among her awards are the Phillip Smith Courageous Athlete Memorial award, the Catholic Youth Leadership award and the Holy Cross Knights of Columbus Scholarship.

Her hobbies include art, playing piano, reading, and intramural sports.

Catherine Parsiola, 19-year-old daughter of Charles and Melissa Parsiola, attends LSU where she is majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in public relations, and minors in Spanish and Business Administration.

The BHS graduate is a National Merit Scholar and Triathlon Collegiate National Championships qualifier.

She recently led high school sophomores in a theatre workshop through a LSU program for under resourced high schools. She is also a member of the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church choir.

Allison Russo, 19-year-old daughter of Steve and Lisa Russo of Berwick, attends NSU majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in pre-kindergarten to third grade.

The BHS graduate was a member of Top Cats, Student Council, Foreign Language Club, Drama Club, and the tennis team.

Her interests also include solving puzzles and dancing. She is a certified Zumba instructor.
