The Second Tour du Teche is set for the weekend of Oct. 7-9 and volunteers are needed for the Franklin leg of the event

The 135-mile paddle race down Bayou Teche begins in Port Barre and ends at Berwick.

This year, the race will be broken down into three stages, with paddlers reaching Franklin on Saturday, staying the night, and taking off to finish in Berwick on Sunday.

Last year’s inaugural event proved to be a tremendous success, and organizers are expecting increased participation this year.

A meeting will be held Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at city hall for organizers of the event.

Volunteers are urged to attend, or contact Roger Stouff at:
