Water driven by mostly storm surge creeped into the Franklin Canal this weekend and covered Willow Street, above. It lasted several hours before receding. There were also reports of street flooding along Eastwood Drive from Bayou Teche and Oxford Loop, below (Submitted photo.)
Winds were light to moderate most of the Labor Day weekend, with occasional gusts of 35 to 40 mph.
Local residents with rain gauges measured about 7 inches of rainfall over the weekend.
There were flooded streets along Bayou Teche near Eastwood Subdivision, and along the Franklin Canal at Willow Street, but the waters receded in a matter of hours.
Bayou Teche also rose in areas such as Oxford Loop at Millet Point, coming into the neighborhood there.
Flooding closed roads to Cypremort Point and Burns Point Sunday before the water receded. Both are open to traffic now.
There have been no confirmed reports of water in homes. Minor tree damage and scattered power outages were reported.
Dry air coming in from the southwest from Texas moderated the southwestern part of the storm, according to the National Weather Service.
