South Central Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus will have a new 25,000 square-foot addition by mid-June 2012. The proposed addition will tie into the existing facility and house the health occupations, business services, developmental studies and network specialist classes, as well as student services and administrative departments. Carl Blum Architects designed the new building and Aegis Construction is overseeing the construction. Test piles have been driven to insure the ground and piles will support the weight of the structure. Once the area is confirmed stable, 400 more piles will be placed by the end of September. The state is funding the new building and renovations of the existing facility at a total of $4.1 million. Professional artist and architect Stan Routh of Baton Rouge produced this rendering.

I think I can confidently say that no one employed by or attending school at Young Memorial would approve of this article's title, "Altar Of Knowledge." It's not a place that people would go to worship. It is, hopefully, a place where people go to learn and/or receive an education.
