The Blessing of the Animals was held Sunday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Franklin. The outdoor worship service is held annually to celebrate the animals people share their lives with and to commemorate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. In the first photo, the Rev. Robert Courtney of Morgan City blesses several local canines and their owners. The canine guest of honor, Daytona, second photo along with his owner Elmo Vinas. Daytona was born in Iraq and adopted by Elmo’s brother, Lt. Col. Rick Vinas who had her transported to the U.S. with the help of the International Kennel Club.
