Morgan City Garden Club was host of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation District 3 meeting held Oct. 4 in the ballroom of the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. Enhancing the ballroom was artwork provided by Artists Guild Unlimited.

District 3 LGCF clubs were treated to a Welcome Continental Breakfast provided by Chabill’s Tire Traxx.

Presiding over the meeting was District 3 Director Alma Ebel. Millie Comeaux of Azalea Garden Club led the pledge of allegiance.

Host club President Jo Ann C. Blanchard of Morgan City welcomed the large group, representing all clubs in District 3.

Officially welcoming the members to the city was Timothy Matte, Morgan City Mayor.

New Iberia Garden Club President Ruth Delhomme gave the response to the Blanchard and Matte welcome. NIGC will host the next district meeting.

Mary Jacobs, LGCF president, gave the President’s Message. Blanchard gave the Credentials Report.

Doylene Rice-Porter of MCGC provided the meal’s blessing.

Guest speaker Leigh Harris, Keep Louisiana Beautiful executive director, was introduced by MCGC’s Judith Manfre.

“Inviting more communities to become part of the Keep Louisiana Beautiful movement is important to spreading the message of making Louisiana litter-free,” said Harris.

Lafayette Garden Club’s Roxanna Champagne was elected director-elect of District 3.

Iris Roy, District 3 treasurer, announced winners of the district raffle.

Manfre and Renee Vanover presented gifts to honored guests and many door prizes were awarded.

MCGC chairmen involved in the meeting were: Blanchard, overall chairman; Vanover and Manfre, staging and decorations; Sondra Dohmann, programs and name tags; Nedra Tabor, favors; Sis Borque and Blanchard, registrations and credentials; Margaret Romaire, floating hostess; Alice Pecoraro and Evie Bertaut, door and raffle prizes; Rice-Porter, page for state president; Geri Bourgeois, publicity; and Evelyn Bergeron, appreciation notes.

The Rev. Gregory Fratt gave the invocation and Bourgeois gave “The Gardener’s Benediction.”
