Alcide J. Smith Jr., 73, a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana died October 12th, 2011.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Thursday at Samart Funeral Home of Houma. The visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until funeral time at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Houma. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with burial following in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Lainee) Eskine Smith; one daughter, Darla Cantrelle & husband Glenn; five brothers, Ernest Smith of Houma, Jimmy Smith of Chauvin, Carlton Smith Sr. of Chauvin, Randall Smith of Chauvin & Mark Smith of Chauvin; eight sisters, Jeanette Andrews of Chauvin, Juanita Eskine of Franklin, Gloria Johnson of New Iberia, Elaine Marie of Chauvin, Rosemary Foret of Chauvin, Lillian Robichaux of Delcambre, Patrica Gary of Lydia & Kathy Dupre of Chauvin; three grandchildren, Crystal Pineno & husband James, Raven Cantrelle & fiancé Mark Boudreaux & Tyler Cantrelle; and three great-grandchildren, Jayden Cantrelle, Carter & Darien Pineno. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide Smith Sr. & Juliette Bergeron Smith; five brothers, Norman, Clark, Gary, Rudy & Ricky Smith; and one sister, Sylvia Chauvin.
Alcide was a member of Ward 7 Citizens Club, Woodmen of the World, Knights of Columbus & had a passion for woodworking & gardening. He was a jack of all trades and a master of many.
