La. 182 wreck

Clay Broussard, 21, of Nini Road in Bayou Vista had to be extricated by first responders this morning after his 2008 Dodge Ram struck a silver 2011 Kia Sorrento, driven by Lindsay Mensman, 44, of Charenton, before coming to rest in a ditch near Lighthouse Community Church in Berwick. At the time of the accident, which occurred at 7:10 a.m. on La. 182 near Patti Drive, Broussard was eastbound on La. 182, while Mensman was westbound. Both were the lone occupants in their vehicles. Broussard was transferred to Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, where he was treated and released. Mensman received no medical attention. The incident still is being investigated and no citations have been issued, Berwick Police Chief James Richard said. More information will be available Monday morning, Richard said.
