One lane of traffic opened early last week, signaling that work is nearing completion on a small bridge across a canal south of the Harold J. “Babe” Landry Landfill on Berwick South Road as well as the reconstruction of Berwick South Road from U.S. 90 south to the bridge. The $1.66 million project is being funded through Coastal Impact Assistance program money. Only southbound traffic is allowed to use Berwick South Road to access River Road. Northbound traffic still is required to travel through the Town of Berwick. Lemoine Co. of Lafayette is the project’s contractor.
