Former financial executive

OPELOUSAS – Services will be Wednesday for former financial executive and civic leader Wayne Gilmore. He died Oct. 16 at age 89.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Pacific Theater, World War II and founded Brown’s Furniture in Ville Platte after the war.

He retired as president of Teche Federal Savings Bank, formerly First Federal Savings & Loan and was immediate past board chairman of Opelousas General Health System.

Gilmore was active in a number of clubs and organizations.

Survivors include his wife Vera Ruth and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Sibille.

High school principal

DELCAMBRE – Services will be Wednesday for educator/principal Cory Bourque. He died Oct. 16 at age 57.

A former coach and teacher, he had been principal of Delcambre High since 1994.

Survivors include his wife Jo Ann, three step-sons and a step-daughter.

Arrangements are by Evangeline.



Economic development planner


WEST MONROE – Services will be Wednesday for former regional planning executive Robert “Bob” Wagner. He died Oct. 15 at age 78.

Wagner was executive director of the Kisatchie-Delta Regional Planning & Development District for 10 years. He helped found the agency and was its first economic development planner for about 20 yeears.

He also owned radio stations KCKW in Jena, where his family operated the newspaper for a number of years, and KPAL in Pineville.

Survivors include his wife Sue, two sons and three step-children.

Arrangements are by Kilpatrick.
