More early votes gathered in St. Mary

A combined 20 mail-in ballots were received Monday and today at the St. Mary Parish Registrar of Voter’s two offices, boosting early voting totals to 3,394.

Sixteen were received at the Registrar’s office at the Parish Courthouse in Franklin — two on Monday and 14 today — while the remaining four were received at the Registrar of Voter’s Branch Office in Morgan City on Monday.

Absentee voting concluded Saturday with more than 3,300 early votes cast in St. Mary Parish during the weeklong period for the Oct. 22 election.

During early voting — held Oct. 8-15 — the Franklin and Morgan City offices received 3,303 combined votes. Another 69 were received by mail through Oct. 7.

Early voting also concluded in St. Martin and Assumption parishes.

Statewide, more than 160,000 early ballots were cast.
