West St. Mary (5-3) snapped a three-game losing streak while evening its District 6-2A record at 1-1 with the victory.
West St. Mary’s Jontrey Tillman guided the Wolfpack to victory after rushing for 256 yards and four touchdowns, including a thrilling 88-yard touchdown return and along with a 60-yard scoring scamper.
West St. Mary’s Jovan Anderson handed hit team a 3-0 lead in the opening stanza which ended in the Panthers holding a 14-9 advantage.
On the ensuing kickoff, Delcambre’s Christian Umphries scored on an 82-yard kickoff return before Dylan LeBlanc kicked the point-after-touchdown, lifting the Panthers outfront by a 7-3 lead.
A short time later, West St. Mary quarterback Tra’vell Dixon weaved his way for a 14-yard TD, giving the Wolfpack a 9-7 lead.
Umphries plowed three yards for a touchdown before LeBlanc made good on the kick as the Panthers clawed their way to the 14-9 cushion.
Tillman brought the Wolfpack back with an 88-yard kickoff of his own, giving West St. Mary a 17-14 early in the second quarter.
LeBlanc added a 34-yard field goal before Mark Rodriguez returned a fumble 22 yards.
Tillman made his presence known again with a 60-yard TD, bringing the Wolfpack back again.
In the second half, the Wolfpack scored 22 unanswered points with Dai Juan Stewart catching a 14-yard TD pass from Dixon before Tillman scored on the two-point conversion.
Tillman scored two more touchdowns on runs of 34 and 12 yards, closing out the Wolfpack comeback 43-24 victory.
West St. Mary (5-3, 1-1) will play its third straight road game next week at the Jeanerette Tigers in District 6-2A action.
