The Tri-City area was in the Halloween spirit this weekend with numerous youngsters attending the Zoo to Boo Family Fun Day on Saturday, donning costumes during the festivities at the Morgan City Barnyard Zoo. The Parade of Schools and banner and cheering competition were held immediately before Zoo to Boo. All of these activities were part of Red Ribbon Week ceremonies, which concluded Sunday in St. Mary Parish. Later Saturday evening, trick-or-treating was observed for campers and their guests at Lake End Park. Above, children pick lollipops during Zoo to Boo, while in the top photo, Judy Roy of Patterson lies in a cardboard coffin during a set-up at Lake End Park. Roy and her husband Ronnie, as well as Dale and Peggy Landry of New Iberia, and Maria and Dale Leftwich of Bayou Vista, teamed up for the display at the park. Roy spooked children — in good fun, of course — when they came to their campsite for candy. Trick-or-treating will be observed tonight across the parish 6-8 p.m. Motorists should use caution when traveling through neighborhoods.
