Gertrude Diggs Johnson of Siracusa recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Gibson. A party was hosted by her son Anthony Johnson III and daughter-in-law Gloria Johnson at their home on Sept. 17. Johnson isn’t the only one in her family who has crossed the century mark. Her sister Olivia Johnson of Compton, Calif., will celebrate her 108th birthday next month, while another sister, Sadie Diggs, passed away in January 2009 at age 103.
