St. Mary School Superintendent Donald Aguillard picked up two endorsements in his bid for the position of Lafayette superintendent.

The 100 Black Men of Lafayette and Lafayette Public Education Stake-holders Council both chose Aguillard, along with Pat Cooper and Maria Pitre-Martin, as their top three candidates, according to published reports.

The Lafayette Parish School Board will make its decision for the top three candidates when it meets Tuesday.

The board decided last week to use a point system to whittle the remaining nine candidates down to three. From there, the board is expected to visit the three finalists’ communities and to hold a public forum with the finalists on Nov. 30.

The selection is scheduled for Dec. 7.
