Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. crews are currently completing maintenance work on the line in Morgan City. Work, such as that completed here, is done periodically to maintain the railway lines, said Joe Faust, regional director of public affairs for BNSF. The efforts are coordinated with local government officials, and while Faust said he was unsure of how long it would last, he said this type of work is complete in three to five days with workers putting in long work days. Faust said he was unsure how much the work would cost but said it is being funded by BNSF. The track is part of 32,000 miles of track the company operates in the western United States.
